Italian Americans with roots in Southern Italy:

In 1860, a real war of annexation put an end to the independent Kingdom of Naples, in favor of a “United Italy”.
The kingdom of Naples that was the richest State in Italy became ‘the south Italy’: the biggest and best industries of the kingdom were moved to the north.
The diaspora started: the big emigration to Americas of the so called ‘Southern Italians’.

Infact when you think about famous Italian-Americans  you must know that most of them do not have ‘Italian’ roots, but roots in Neapolitan Kingdom.
