1) Shiatsu Treatment (about 60 minutes. 50 euro)
'Shiatsu' is Japanese for ‘finger pressure'. It is an increasingly popular and surprisingly powerful complementary therapy utilising the same theories as acupuncture in a system of gentle stretches and pressure application. Shiatsu uses the body's own energies to strengthen and improve health and well being. It has its roots in the healing arts and sciences of ancient China, adapted in Japan in the twentieth century by Shizuto Masunaga, a psychiatrist, who incorporated modern Western ideas of physiology and psychology into the traditional Oriental body model.
The most common conditions treated with shiatsu tend to be physical aches and pains such as frozen shoulder, tennis elbow and lower back ache , although these can often turn out to be symptomatic of other, deeper disharmonies.
Some common ailments treated with shiatsu include: Fatigue, Depression, Menstrual problems, Back , shoulder and neck pain, Digestive problems, Headache, Joint pain, Asthma, Stress, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or ME. Even if it is only used as a stress relief tool, Shiatsu can be extremely effective. Shiatsu in Japan is regulated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

2) Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a component of the health care system of China that can be traced back at least 2,500 years. The general theory of acupuncture is based on the premise that there are patterns of energy flow (Qi) through the body that are essential for health. Disruptions of this flow are believed to be responsible for disease. Acupuncture may correct imbalances of flow at identifiable points close to the skin. Acupuncture is a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity (Unesco 2010)
Symptoms, diseases and conditions that have been shown through controlled trials to be treated effectively by acupuncture: low back pain, neck pain, sciatic, tennis elbow, knee pain, periarthritis of the shoulder, sprains, facial pain (including craniomandibular disorders), headache, dental pain, tempromandibular (TMJ) dysfunction, rheumatoid arthritis, induction of labor, correction of malposition of fetus (breech presentation), morning sickness, nausea and vomiting, postoperative pain, stroke, essential hypertension, primary hypotension, renal colic, leucopenia, adverse reactions to radiation or chemotherapy, allergic rhinitis, including hay fever, biliary colic, depression (including depressive neurosis and depression following stroke), acute bacillary dysentery, primary dysmenorrheal, acute epigastralgy, peptic ulcer, acute and chronic gastritis.

The Schola Medica Salernitana:
Body and mind care in Campania is an ancient tradition !

The Schola Medica Salernitana was the first medical school (XI century)in the Western World. Situated on the Tyrrhenian Sea in the south Italian city of Salerno, it was the most important source of medical knowledge in Europe at the time. Salerno is still called infact the ‘Hippocratical city’.
Here  the lore of Hippocrates, Galen and Dioscorides was supplemented and invigorated by Arabic medical practice, known from contacts with Sicily and North Africa. As a result, the medical practitioners of Salerno, both men and women, melted Roman, Greek, Arabian and Jewish knowledge.
The tradition continues.
Nowadays there is more and more awareness of how necessary is  to unite the Eastern and Western medical traditions.  And tourists in Salerno and Amalfi coast, as well as local people, can rely on many treatments provided by professional doctors and masseurs.

“The sea washes away all human ills” ( Plato)

"The beauty of the Amalfi coast is for many people, the attraction for a short or long vacation. Many, however, do not know that the climatic characteristics and natural resources present in the territory, if properly used, could be a remarkable therapeutic opportunity of prevention and treatment of various ailments. It is useful to know, therefore, that going to the beach, as well as swimming in the sea, it is also an important therapeutic opportunity which have already being experienced by previous generations, when the mothers brought children to the sea for "health" and the elderly found remedies to their rheumatism. This is what we call today climatotherapy, sand treatments, marine balneotherapy."  (Dr. Raffaele Vitagliano)

So enjoy these free therapies and  if you want more you can book here some professional treatments.
